What the Bleep?!
sessions delve further into issues raised in the movie Hey, did you see the film “What the Bleep Do We Know?!” Sure did, watched it four times! Do you really think our thoughts control our universe? I don’t know, but it was really interesting how specific thoughts changed the shape of those water molecules shown in the film! What’s your overall impression of the movie? It’s really mind-boggling stuff!! Fifty of us ... It’s comments like these that we heard at the first two or three sessions of the Sunday morning study groups that are delving further into the issues raised in the movie. About 50 of us gather on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. in the Edwards Building for lively discussion on interesting questions raised in this fascinating docudrama. Divided into three small groups, led by Maggie and Steve Mullins, Ed Fulker and Joe Guardiano, we are using the wonderful study guide on the film, produced by The Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) and Captured Light Industries. (The curriculum does not require having seen the movie to participate. How the world works and our place in it The guide serves as a jumping-off point to explore our views on the ideas presented by the “new” science of Quantum Physics, as well as, Quantum Mechanics which has been around for 75 years. Chapter titles include Paradigm Shift, Quantum Reality, Creating Our Days and Healing the Past. We are contemplating the vast changes this new view is imposing on our lives, not only in technology but also on our understanding of time and space, consciousness, healing, ecology, and human relationships. This leads us to question our world view and the shifting paradigm of how the world works and our place in it. Consciously creating our days From neurosciences and consciousness studies we find remarkable connections between mind and body. Power of the mind and emotions — that can affect the body and possibly the world around us — does not fit the dominant story of our mechanistic age about how the world works. The emerging story is that the universe consists of possibilities, not things. Relationships and processes are more fundamental than substances. Later discussions will deal with the way we consciously create our days, find a deeper order in the universe, and free ourselves from past conditioning. The IONS website It’s all so fascinating that just about everyone has a thought to share. The group interaction is great fun and we’re getting to know each other better in the process. It’s all very informal, so we invite everyone to join in on Sunday mornings. We will continue the sessions through July and August. If you would like to read more about the subject, visit the IONS website, or check out the Study Guide at www.whatthebleep.com/guide. What some are saying Lisa Leonhardt: It has been mind opening. It makes you think about your world and all that we don’t know about it. Pam Minton: It is an intelligent activity and inquiry that is interesting and entertaining. I don’t feel that it is really applicable to my life. I need to know how to apply it and get on to the next level and I am hoping that it will go there in the coming weeks. Karen Tannenholz: Where else can you go in Fort Myers to have intelligent discussion, discover and share new ideas, concepts and theories; play challenging mind games; discuss current events; and make new friends? This is what I’ve found at these Sunday morning sessions. I call them my quantum physics theory class! See you on Sundays mornings at 9! |
